Davolink Minions Kevin WiFi 6E Router (AXE5400) Review: The Most Fun Router You’ll Ever Own
Let’s be honest: nobody has ever looked at their WiFi router and smiled. Routers are black boxes you hide behind the TV. The Davolink Minions Kevin WiFi 6E Router changes that — it’s a tri-band WiFi 6E powerhouse dressed up as everyone’s favorite yellow henchman, and it actually performs.
First Impressions: It’s a Minion. On Your Shelf.
The Kevin edition comes in the iconic Minions yellow-and-blue color scheme. At 4.2 x 4.8 x 9.6 inches, it’s compact enough for a desk or entertainment center, and unlike every boring black router you’ve owned, this one is a conversation piece. If your setup has any personality at all, this fits right in.
Performance: WiFi 6E, AXE5400 Tri-Band
Under the playful shell is serious hardware:
- WiFi 6E (802.11ax) with access to the uncongested 6GHz band — less interference, more speed
- AXE5400 tri-band speeds for simultaneous gaming, 4K streaming, and smart-home devices
- WPS one-tap setup — get online in minutes, no networking degree required
- Internal antennas keep the clean Minions look without sacrificing coverage
In real-world use, the 6GHz band is the star: fewer neighbors competing for airtime means lower latency when it matters — gaming sessions, video calls, and 4K streams running at the same time.
Built for Gamers and Streamers
Davolink positions this router for gaming consoles and home entertainment, and the specs back it up. WiFi 6E’s low latency and high throughput are exactly what competitive gaming needs, and the tri-band design means your game traffic isn’t fighting your roommate’s Netflix binge.
Setup: Minion-Simple
WPS one-tap setup plus a guided app flow means you’re up and running in minutes. No manual channel tuning, no firmware headaches — though power users still get the advanced settings they’d expect from an AXE5400-class device.
Price and Value
At $119.99, the Kevin edition sits in the sweet spot: real WiFi 6E hardware at a price that used to buy you a basic WiFi 5 router, plus a design nobody else has.
